Vern was born November 20, 1922 in Toledo, Ohio to Francis and Lillian (Navarre) Horton. He graduated from Whitmer High School in 1940 and always looked forward to the monthly alumni luncheons. He was a veteran of the US Army and was the recipient of two bronze stars for his service in the China, Burma, India campaign of the Asiatic Pacific Theatre in WWII. He was a member of CBI (China, Burma, India) Veterans Organization. Vern was a Master Offset Pressman and worked for Heck Printing for 30 years. He then taught vocational printing classes for Washington Local schools retiring in 1989. Vern was a devoted husband, father, grandpa and friend.
